Plot: Jessica Shepard is an on the rise police officer of San Francisco’s esteemed police department, after having solved a big case about a serial killer. Her mentor John Mills is proud of Jessica as a father would be of his daughter, since Mills was the partner of Jessica’s late father. With a newly established promotion, Jessica finds that she might once again have to prove herself in a department that takes no prisoners. Not to mention a new partner named Mike Delmarco, who might be Jessica’s next closest thing to a confidant. However, a man has been found dead and the two officers are brought into the investigation. What they find is a surprise when the dead in question was a man Jessica slept with, he being part of a list of one night stands that Jessica has engaged in. Now under suspicion and a terrible drinking problem gnawing at her, Jessica will have to prove to her superiors and to her skeptical partner that she’s not the one behind the murders and Mills is one of the few people standing behind her. This is a story about a woman trying to find the perpetrator of these horrible crimes, before she herself might end as one of them.

Can you think of any little known/interesting facts about any ROCK bandnames?
I thought that the story behind Three Dog Night’s name was interesting:

The official commentary included in the CD set Celebrate: The Three Dog Night Story, 1965-1975 states that vocalist Danny Hutton’s then-girlfriend June Fairchild suggested the name after reading a magazine article about indigenous Australians, in which it was explained that on cold nights they would customarily sleep in a hole in the ground whilst embracing a dingo, a native species of wild dog. On colder nights they would sleep with two dogs and if a night was especially cold, it was a "three dog night".

Led Zeppelin were named that because Keith Moon of the Who stated in the media that they’ll never make it (the new yardbirds or forget what they were called) they’ll go down like a LEAD ZEPPELIN

Blink 182 was originally just Blink, but they were sued by an Italian band with the same name. They added the 182, saying it was important, but they just liked the sound of it.

Supposedly, Captain Beefheart got the name because he was reminded of a beef heart when he’d squeeze his genitalia and "it" would expand. Kinda icky, huh?

The name AC/DC came from Malcolm and Angus Young when they saw the initals AC/DC on their old sisters sewing machine [alternating current/direct current].

wow thats pretty awesome how they got their name! anyway some others:

- Duran duran: named after a character in the movie barbarella. in the movie the character was pretty erotic.
- cheap trick: the band members were at a phsycic and asked a ouija board what their band should be called. apparently alice cooper has a similar story to this one :/
- steely dan: is from a book that used the name "steely dan" to refer to a giant steam powered dildo. wow.

Bound to the neighborhood for which he stands and a group of remorseless delinquents, each with their own obscure motives, he must once again navigate the dangerous terrain that led him to a conviction and sentence meant for another. With unjust jail time under his belt, he has earned honor and respect in the local hierarchy. On the streets where he was raised, his homeboys compete for position and power. Their lives are punctuated by dysfunctional drug and alcohol abuse, emptiness and misplaced aggression. The ensuing circumstances forces six friends into choices and actions that underscore a reality seldom seen. I have a credit card problem. Any advice?
OK, here’s the deal. I graduated from high school in 2007. I went away for college for my first year (I’m still a student. I just transferred home). My dad and I set up an arrangement for the first year of college until I was able to find work (I wasn’t, thus one of the reasons I moved back home) and he set me up with a VISA with his credit union. Well, I (we) missed a couple of payments. I don’t know if he and I had some kind of misunderstanding, but he made most payments, but failed to make 2 or 3 on time. That’s kind of irrelevant now. I payed that card and closed it because the credit union advised me to do so. I have one other card that is for Zales that I used to buy an engagement ring and have since paid it off. I’d like to get another general credit card, but was denied by Chase Bank for a rewards credit card. I went in and talked to someone at the bank to see if there was anything I could do. The lady pretty much told me no, and that it was advisable that I wait another 6 months before I apply again. Is there anything I can do, or is the bank teller correct? She suggested that I apply for a Chase Slate card that people with not much or bad credit use to build credit. What should I do?

If you had this card for almost 3 years and only missed two or three payments over that time it is possible that the late payments are not the reason you aren’t being approved for a rewards card. Having 2 credit cards with low balances for two to three years is considered limited credit; especially if you had 2 or 3 late payments on one or both of those cards within the last year or two. Most lenders won’t approve someone for a "rewards" or exclusive type of account unless you have an excellent credit score with several lines of credit and excellent assets and income. I’ve seen people with a 740 credit score get turned down for American Express cards because they have average income and/or assets with only two or three lines of credit. If a lender doesn’t think you have shown an ability to manage large sums of money and debt at the same time they will be less inclined to approve you for exclusive offers.
One other thing; if your late payments were within the last year and you maybe missed two payments in a row, meaning that you went 60 days past due, you may have to wait up to a year before getting approved for more credit.

What should I do with my life?
Im really lost about what i should do with my life.I wanna become a model and a fashion designer, but i cant even draw a house!!! So the fashion designer thing wont work out. Then i thought about working for Google or becoming a crime investigator…but crime investigators are always in danger. An example…im thinking of this from the top of my head…..your investigating a drug-dealer and somehow that drug-dealer finds out…..he might send someone after you….and yes that has happened. But i don’t know the requirements for working for google. And i wanna get away from my family as MUCH AS POSSIBLE…so i was thinking of going to California or something. Could you please help me pick a career.I’ve asked family and friends but they don’t take me seriously =( ….

umm whatabout a realtor. Thats right, i said a realtor. Because if your gonna keep belittling your self and saying that you cant do it or taking fun out of the picture because of danger than your going to end up as realtor, or someting thats boring as hell. So what i say to you mam, is Go for it.

Do you think obese people really want to work out?
Do you think obese people really want to work out?
I have read elsewhere, that obese people feel intimidated to go the gym because of the looks from other members and of course the trauma they get seeing some athletic people.
I do accept this point of view partially, yet sometimes I believe they also lack the strong motivation and they accepted their life as it is.
Plus I think some might be on the lazier side too.
What do you think and how it cam be solved?

Actually both of your theories are true. Some obese people are intimidated by having to show themselves at a gym. Especially when a lot of other gym attendees are slim or muscular. They see this as an obstacle that trumps any desire to get fit. If they were really resolute and wanted to loose weight and get fit, they would not let this stop them. Note that you do not need to go a gym to exercise. In that respect, yes they lack the motivation and some are downright lazy. (as can be said of any one, even if they are not fat) With some a health problem directly related to their being overweight further dissuades them from exercising.
Obesity is linked to approximately 75% of all heart conditions. That fact alone should be a motivator. 50% of Americans are now in the overweight category. What does that say about us as a society?

What do you think about this bit of prose I wrote (vampire story)?
A tall, thin, blond woman was lying on the operating table. Two pints of blood had been transfused into her already. A nurse had just attached a third pint of whole blood to a catheter that fed into a large blood vessel in her thigh.

She had been hit by a car. A policeman had explained the accident to the ER staff, and the nurse told Dr. Schweinkopf the details.

Witnesses told the police that the woman wearing a jogging suit had run at full speed out into morning rush hour traffic. It was the act of a crazy person. She caused a series of collisions as cars braked and slid into one another. She might have been fleeing something or somebody. She had made it across three lanes of a major street, but then got hit by a Japanese sports car going at least fifty miles per hour. She had no identification on her. The police wanted to talk to her if possible.

The doctor could see that she had suffered massive injuries. She had a deep gash in the center of her face right next to her nose. He looked at the set of x-rays. Her left collarbone and upper left arm bone, the humerus, were shattered. She had six broken ribs. Scariest of all, she had two fractured cervical vertebrae. Her right leg was broken. She had dozens of cuts on her arm and shoulder, some still had little pieces of windshield glass stuck in them. Oddly, her cuts were hardly bleeding.

The doctor checked her vital signs. Her vital signs had stabilized, but the chart of her vital signs when she was admitted to the ER was disturbing. Her body temperature and blood pressure had been impossibly low. The doctor was irritated; obviously the blood pressure monitoring device had not been working correctly. Nobody could have blood pressure that low and still be alive.

He looked at her cranial x-rays. There was also a massive wound to the back of her head. Something had pierced the back of the woman’s skull and entered her brain quite deeply. From the looks of the wound to her face, it seemed as if something might have completed transfixed the womans’ head. But that was impossible. Such a wound would have killed any person.

A neurosurgeon was on his way to the hospital. The woman should be dead, but she was still breathing and her heart was puming at over thirty beats per minute. Soon the doctor would have a colleague available to verify the medical miracle that lay on the operating table in front of him. There was no possible explanation for her survival from such terrible injuries.

He checked the lab’s analysis of the blood that had been taken from her when she was admitted. There were no drugs of alcohol. Then he saw it – the key to the mystery. The woman’s blood had a super-abundance of free pluripotent stem cells.

Dr. Schweinkopf had recently read about the phenomenon of free floating stem cells in a medical journal. The journal had reported that free floating stem cells occurred in the blood of persons afflicted by third stage vampirism.

He had turned away from the patient to read the blood report. He heard a rustling noise behind him, and spun quickly around.

The blond woman was sitting up on the operating table, her eyes were open, and she was looking at him.

I am going to be VERY picky but i think thats what you wanted so here ya go

A tall, thin, blond woman was lying on the operating table. Two pints of blood had been transfused into her already. A nurse had just attached a third pint of whole blood to a catheter that fed into a large blood vessel in her thigh.

***this wasnt too bad, I would change the word tall to something like long because if she’s laying down she isnt tall, if that makes any sense lol. also, i would change the second period to a comma***

She had been hit by a car. A policeman had explained the accident to the ER staff, and the nurse told Dr. Schweinkopf the details.

***I don’t know what age group you are going for, but I think that you should describe her wounds, it will give a better picture***

***I don’t think you should describe the jogging suit by witnesses saying it, it would still have been on when the cops found her right? so why would the witnesses need to tell them that. I would also describe that in the first paragraph so you don’t have to backtrack on the description of her. I wouldn’t say "crazy person", seems a bit cheesy. instead of major street I would put major intersection, major highway, the I-85 or something to get a better picture. For the collisions I would describe the scene, like what the cops saw instead of telling it blandly. How the crap do they know the car was going at least 50 MPH? I would just put speeding or something, then I would blend the last two sentences together***

***lol, sorry i didnt see this part, I would just copy and paste this part to a bit earlier because it feels like you flipping back and forth a little bit. sorry again lol my bad. I would also maybe get a little more creative here in describing her injuries***

***I really like where your going with this paragraph, the right words and it could really be powerful, its where you basically find out something is not right, you need to make it pop a bit more, make the reader feel uneasy***

**I think you’re going a bit far, its getting a little cheesy here***

A neurosurgeon was on his way to the hospital. The woman should be dead, but she was still breathing and her heart was puming at over thirty beats per minute. Soon the doctor would have a colleague available to verify the medical miracle that lay on the operating table in front of him. There was no possible explanation for her survival from such terrible injuries.

***I would probably try to shorten this part up a bit, if not take it out all together***

He checked the lab’s analysis of the blood that had been taken from her when she was admitted. There were no drugs of alcohol. Then he saw it – the key to the mystery. The woman’s blood had a super-abundance of free pluripotent stem cells.

ADD: someone had the NERVE to say this is my fault, we bought and have replaced the fence three different times! we have the heavey duty stuff the dog gets out there at night and pulls and gnaws at it until he gets in! we caught him on the survelance camera

quote: "Part of it is your fault but also the owner of the animals who keep getting into your yard. "

lucky: how in the Hell is this my fault? we have two fences one for the house and yard and another fence that is around and above the chicken coop . there dog and cat are tearing apart new fences! we called the police , humane society and animal control and they say that if they dont see the dogs doing it themselves they only have our word even though we have pictures of those animals in the act.

THE PURPOSE OF ASKING THIS QUESTION IS SO I CAN AVOID HAVING TO SHOOT AT THE ANIMALS. i am an animal lover i dont want to shoot them despite the authorities recomendation to do so. god knows that mutt probably deserves it but i wont be the one to do it
we dont use an electric fence because of our own dog he likes to visit the chicks and we dont want him shocked tryign to sniff them through the fence not to mention my little nieces and nephews like to run out there and play with the birdies i dont want them shocked

Since you seem to be down to your last never (understandably, of course) maybe you’d be willing to take the animals to the animal shelter…

Tell them you found these poor, helpless animals all alone outside and just can not keep them….(it’s obviously a lie….shhh)

They should, then, find loving homes that will keep the poor things INSIDE where they can be apart of the family, loved, etc. instead of trying to find entertainment (and apparently food) by killing the neighbors chickens (and tearing up fences in the process)…..

Good Luck…I kind of know how you’re feeling :/

Set out traps, humane traps, get a few dart guns and shoot them when you catch them.

Then once you have them either cage em or (if your desprate) ship em off to the nearby animal shelter. If they return then just ship em to Russia or something.

It’s definatly not your fault.. maybe you could put up some kind of electric fencing so that when the dog or cat touches it, it will give them a shock, but not enough to seriously harm them.. If you ever catch them on your propery maybe spray them with a hose to scare them, maybe if you scare them enough, they won’t want to come back. But I think maybe a fence they cant get through would be best.. I know you’ve replaced it heaps of times tho.. maybe barbed wire?

One thing that may work… but it is kind of a long shot, is to get some manure from some kind of large predator… like a lion, or a bear. I have heard that some nurseries carry it, or if you have a zoo near by they may be able to help you.
It may sound crazy, but some people use it to deter animals such as deer from coming into their gardens. The animal smells a predator, get scared, and leave what ever the poo is around alone.
Some places also sell plants that dogs or cats HATE the smell of. I had a problem with a cat getting in my garden. I planted a couple of the "chase away" plants in the garden… and it worked like a charm! I don’t have a sense of smell, but my husband said that the plants smelled slightly like skunk when you rubbed the leaves.
Lastly… an electric fence. You can buy electric fence supplies at just about any local farm supply store. If you run one or two wires just on the inside of your fence, or around your chicken yard it will not take long for the dog to learn to leave them alone!. It is non-lethal and very effective. It will sting for just a few seconds, but the dog will be just fine. I have been shocked by an electric fence myself several times, and never been permanently damaged.
Other than that, I would ensure you have a "no trespassing" sign up first. With the video you have of the dog breaking into your fence, I would take the owners to court to get your money back for the Chickens that have been killed. Some times the only way to get a point across to some people to to hit them where it hurts…. in the wallet.

I really feel for you – this is a terrible situation to be in. There’s nothing worse that people who won’t take responsibility for their animals.

I could NEVER in a million years ever shoot an animal either, so I sympathise fully.

Perhaps you could try explaining to your neighbour that as you are unwilling to use a gun to defend your property, you will instead be considering a visit to the pound for a guard dog if they don’t keep their pets under control? If it comes to it, you perhaps even borrow a friends dog to let loose within your own property.

This way you can polietly explain to your neighbour that you will not take reposnsibility for your animlas defending their territory, and if their dog/cat ventures into your yard again, you cannot be held responsible for what a guard dog will do.

No matter what happens, I feel really bad for you. Generally the threat of lawsuits doesn’t tend to work with people this irresponsible and feckless. I hope you find a soultion :(
Sooo Many Questions! | Feb 04, 2010

Listen, I;m really sorry about what I said! but don’t keep posting it over and over again! I already feel really bad about it, at the time I didn’t see any additional information about your fence. I thought you just had a regular small fence that the nipped at and digged under. Now thats I see the additional information about the fence I know It’s completely the fault of the owners. Anyways, go to the owners at confront them about it, tell them about all the chickens they killed and eggs, and tell them how much everything cost *hint *hint* so they pay for it, haha. Show the security camera tape to the animal control and hopefully they will come pick the dogs up.

we had a dog that would dig out of a lot and my husband put up a electric fence at the bottom of the lot and the dog would get shocked trying to get out. put the electric fence close enought to the other fence so the dog won’t jump over it.
